Information Technology Apprenticeships

Cabrillo is partnering with the Department of Labor and regional employers with Information Technology needs to provide registered apprenticeships for students pursuing careers in IT, Cyber Security, and Web Development. Students get practical, on-the-job experience that leads them to a rewarding career, and the employer gets quality talent in an area that is traditionally difficult for direct hires, and because the employer has made an investment in them, they stick around longer.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is an arrangement that includes a paid-work component and an educational or instructional component, wherein an individual obtains workplace-relevant knowledge and skills. Cabrillo and its employment partners are developing specific apprenticeships in Information Technology that meet national standards for registration with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Partnership with Cabrillo & Employer

Cabrillo provides technical instruction through coursework and hands on lab activities through the Computer Information Systems (CIS) program. Cabrillo staff facilitate the development of U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) certified apprenticeships to be customized based on employer needs. Cabrillo assists employer with recruiting, screening and onboarding qualified candidates.
Employer provides at least 2000 hours on-the-job training and individualized mentorship.
