This is your starting point for learning more and accessing information to help you in your career development.

Preparing for your career and finding your next job is a process involving multiple stages. Individuals take different paths toward their career goals and may enter this process at different times


Below is a general overview of the the process broken into 3 different components:

  1. Major and Career Exploration. (EXPLORE)
  2. Participating in Internships and on the job learning in your field. (PREPARE)
  3. Preparing for and finding employment while in school and upon program completion. Cabrillo has a variety of services and resources to help you navigate this process. (LAUNCH)

Major and Career Exploration

Career Assessment

Sometimes it takes some guidance to even understand what career or profession you may want to go into. Career assessments can help provide some direction in knowing which field may be interesting to pursue.

Counseling Services

In addition to helping students find a sense of direction in one’s career goals, counselors can also help research the education needed for a particular work field, salary prospects, opportunities for growth and more. Students can schedule appointments with counselors to get started and make a plan.

Career Guidance Courses

Students can also enroll in academic courses taught by counselors to get information about college success and career exploration, providing career services in a classroom format.

Advising and Preparation

Students interested in preparing for internships can get started here. Learn more about internships and gaining professional work experience in your field of study and how to get started in putting together your professional portfolio and getting started.

Searching and Applying

Learn more about how to go about finding and applying for positions available in your field. Various tools and resources are available for you to contact employers and apply for positions across the region.

Enrolling for Credit and Ensuring Success

Students hired and working in internships, volunteer positions or jobs can earn academic credit. In many cases credit for internships and work experience can count toward completion of degrees and certificates as well as transfer to four-year college programs.

Career Coaching

Coaching services can help you develop your career goals, find internship and employment opportunities, and support job search strategies including: resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, and how to conduct a successful job search. Career coaching is available to current Cabrillo students or Alumni.

Cabrillo Job Board

Seahawk Jobs is Cabrillo College’s online job database. It includes on and off-campus, and part-time and full-time career positions.

Resume Development

Having a well-written resume and cover letter that reflects your skills, education, and experience is the most vital part of your job search process.

Interview Preparation

Interviewing for a job takes preparation, practice, and enthusiasm. The behind the scenes work will determine the type of reviews you will receive.

Employer Networking

Participate in opportunities that create connections with local employers such as Employer Information Sessions & Job Fairs.

Employer Posting

Local employers can post positions by connecting to our online job board.
