This resource page exists to highlight some online tools and direct students to do some self-exploration. There are many tools out there for career exploration and preparedness but it can become overwhelming. These are some of the tools and features that Cabrillo College Career Services staff encourage students to check out.


Career Exploration

Monterey Bay Career Coach Monterey Bay Career Coach - A powerful tool for accessing information on job titles, education paths, and job market data for the local region. We also encourage you to contact the Advising/Counseling office of your school and meet with an experienced Career Advisor to support you in planning for your future.
O*NET Online - A free website for easy access to information on over 900 occupations. View data on tasks, skills, knowledge,abilities, job zones, tools and technology, interests, work styles, work values, and work context.
Cabrillo College CTE Website - Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer both academic and career-oriented courses. These programs help prepare our students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers. Many also provide students with the chance to gain hands-on experience through work-based learning opportunities, or prepare them to transfer to four-year institutions. Cabrillo College offers cutting-edge CTE programs within 13 of the 15 industry sectors defined by the California Department of Education. You can explore a each of the sectors and their career pathways below.
My Next Move - Easy-to-use electronic tool that enables users to explore occupations and find related information, including job openings, job outlook information, salaries, apprenticeships, and other related education and training programs. Available free online and especially designed for students.
Eureka - An online database tool. Identify your skills, research careers, search for schools, link to job openings, and more. Free for Cabrillo students. Contact the Transfer and Career Center for login information.
Occupational Outlook Handbook - Current information on careers, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
What Can I Do With A Major In....? - This site provides information on college majors including related career titles, employers and web sites brought to you by The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Guides for Specific Careers - General compilation of Career and Job Search information designed by the California Public Library System. Links to regional information.
Careers in Business - Career information on Business, Finance and Marketing. Recommendations on books on jobs in business and career and self assessment, links to other career and job search pages.

Career Preparation

Live Career - A career toolkit that helps with cover letters, resumes, networking, interviewing, salary negotiation, career tests, and more. Look for jobs by job-seeker type, industry, and geography, as well as by general job sites. You can also cccess tips, links, advice about undergraduate and graduate degrees and financial aid, books to help your career development and the best resources for employers.

Mbinterns.org - Create a profile, upload multiple resumes, search and apply for internships across Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey Counties.
Cabrillo Job board - Available to students and alumni, search and apply for employment opportunities with employers who want to hire Cabrillo students.

Indeed.com - One of many employment searching tools with global reach and is well-used by employers and job searchers.
