Library 10 required a handbook that may be purchased at the Bookstore. Log in to the Canvas online system to access the assessments & assignments for the course.

What is Library 10?

  • Library 10 is a self-paced co-requisite with English 1A. Students taking a face-to-face English 1A course will have an orientation visit by a librarian instructor in their English 1A class. Students taking an online English 1A will have an online Library 10. Students enrolled in the Independent section will receive an email with directions on how to complete the course.
  • This class is designed to build life-long techniques for review and analysis of information sources covering online catalogs, full-text periodical and newspaper databases, and Internet sites as well as library books and materials. You will apply the process of access, evaluation, utilization, and synthesis to selecting and interpreting quality information sources for the construction of works cited lists. May be offered in a distance-learning format. Recommended preparation: Eligibility for English 100. Transfer Credit: CSU and UC.
  • Student Learning Outcomes:
    • Synthesize and apply evaluation techniques to select quality information sources from a variety of resources.
    • Construct a works cited list using the Modern Language Association (MLA) standard.
